How to Change Almost Alice Headband Bows into Clips

Once your little lady has enough hair for clips, it seems like so many headbands... so little time! Those bows still have so much potential, don't get rid of them!! Before you know it, little miss is wearing clips only and the thought of "How am I going to justify a whole new budget for clip bows to the husband?" runs through your mind. Step 1: Cut Nylon Headband
changing headband to clip, cut the headband
This step is necessary for every fabric bow. The nylon headband runs through the knot and will need to be cut. You may be able to re-use the nylon headbands removed from leather bows.
Step 2: Use Your Heat Gun To Melt The Hot Glue
Be careful not to hold the heat gun too close to the bow. I like to hold the heat gun 6-12" away from the bow.
Step 3: Pull Headband off Melted Glue
As you heat the glue gently tug at the headband removing it from the bow. Be careful not to pull to hard on the bow itself, we don't want to ruin the shape of the bow. Have patience while doing this step. If the bow seems to be getting too hot, let it cool off or hold heat gun farther away.
Step 4: Slide New Clip Into Knot on Bow
Depending on how tight this knot is, it may take a little bit of pressure.
Step 5: Glue Clip Into Place and Shape.
While gluing the clip onto the bow, check the shape of the bow. Manipulate the bow to look proportional while the glue is hot.

Tips when working with Almost Alice leather bows:
  • Heat glue with heat gun and remove headband along with the leather center of the bow. Be careful, the leather WILL melt. You must take your time. If the leather gets too warm, set on a flat surface and let it cool down.
  • Put glue on the clip itself and apply to bow on fold of leather bow at a diagonal.
  • Open the clip and re-glue the center of the leather bow back on.

All done! Enjoy your "New" Almost Alice bows!
